Encaustic Workshops

San Miguel de Allende is a famous center of the arts and while enjoying the beauty and charm this colonial Mexico city, participate in one of my popular two day encaustic workshops.

What we cover in the intensive workshop:

  • The history of encaustic
  • Making the encaustic medium and paint
  • Demos of the encaustic technique: fusing, layering, embedding, carving and incising
  • Equipment, materials, and resources to pursue encaustic on your own
  • Experiment with all the materials and create your own encaustic works in class

I provide all materials necessary:  wood panels, brushes,
encaustic paint, oil paint, cutting tools, heat sources, and as much instruction as you wish, but you may want to bring some of the following:

  • Special papers, collage elements, transfers
  • Small objects to embed in the wax
  • Drawings or images that you'd like to recycle

The cost is $195 U.S. or the equivalent in pesos. Checks or cash are acceptable. A 50% deposit is required at registration

The first day of the workshop starts at 10 am and goes until 4pm. We take a lunch break. You can either bring your lunch and eat on the patio or go to a local restaurant. The second day starts at 10 am and goes to 1 pm. We do not take a lunch break, but since this is not school, you can take as many breaks as you wish.

There is only room for five participants in my home studio, so there is as much individual attention as you desire.

If you are interested, please contact me for dates, or I can put your name on my waiting list and let you know of future workshops. I usually offer one a month.
